Fractured Pigment

The PicoWay uses ultra-short picosecond pulses to shatter ink particles into tiny fragments beneath the skin. Once broken down, the body's white blood cells carry away the fragments through the lymphatic system. The technology works on all ink colors and all skin types faster and with less pain than older laser systems.

Some permanent makeup inks contain metallic compounds. When the laser hits metal, it oxidizes or rusts, turning the eyebrow a rusty red color. This requires additional sessions to correct, similar to tattoo removal. The clinic will identify this during consultation.

Recovery is minimal. You may experience mild swelling, redness, and irritation immediately after treatment, usually gone by the next day. Makeup can be worn 24 hours after the procedure. Avoid direct sun for a few days and apply sunscreen. If planning a new microblading after removal, check with your eyebrow artist about timing.

Apply cool compresses to the treated area. Keep it moist with antibiotic cream or Aquaphor as the scab forms and falls off over 3 weeks. Use SPF 50+ sunscreen and reapply several times daily. Drink plenty of water. The skin underneath the scab will be pink initially and return to normal color with time.
