Roots opened on Georgetown's downtown square about 10 years ago and has been locally owned and operated ever since. The restaurant occupies a rustic building dating to around 1885, with an outdoor patio looking out on what the owners call 'the most beautiful square in Texas.'

The scratch kitchen turns out appetizers, soups, salads, tacos, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas, including Spinach Artichoke Dip, loaded Nachos, California Tacos, and the Hero's Gyro, plus a rotating dessert lineup. The bar carries a large selection of craft beers alongside wine, sourced in part from local farmers and suppliers.

Roots runs a full week of live entertainment: $2.99 Taco Tuesday all day into karaoke at 7pm, an open mic on Wednesday nights with 20-minute sets, and live bands Thursday through Saturday from 7 to 10pm with no cover charge. Orders can also be picked up or delivered through DoorDash and Uber Eats.
